Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Arrives in Buenos Aires

Ravi Shankar arrived in Buenos Aires yesterday to prepare for the world’s biggest meditation session scheduled for 9th September.

The spiritual leader, colloquially known as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar or simply Sri Sri, will lead the meditation session that will be broadcast to the rest of the world from here in Argentina’s capital city.

“I am very honored to be in this country, with such happy and vibrant people. We are here to generate waves of peace and harmony in society,” told Shankar to press upon arriving at the Airforce Sector of Aeroparque where more than 2000 people gathered to meet him.

The meditation session will be viewed in more than 300 cities around the world and will take place at the intersection of Dorrego and Figueroa Alcorta at 2:00 pm. Organizers are expecting around 100,000 people to attend.

Shankar’s organization The Art of Living Foundation is the world’s largest volunteer-based humanitarian and education non-governmental organization in the world. He preaches about enhancing life by living stress free and promoting human values such as love, compassion and enthusiasm. It is not limited to any one religion or culture and according to Sri Sri, science and spirituality are linked and compatible.

“The question, ‘Who am I?’ leads to spirituality. The question, ‘What is this?’ leads to science,” is one of his examples.

Shankar’s programs try to offer a world free of stress and violence with practical tools like breathing used. Back in his 2006 tour of Argentina, the Ministry of Justice of the Nation signed a contract with him allowing his classes to be performed in federal penitentiaries.

This time around Sri Sri will reach out the rest of the world from the streets of Buenos Aires, trying to attain a moment of peace and relaxation across the globe.
