New Public Transport Prices, Limits Announced

In today’s press conference, Interior Minister Florencio Randazzo and Transport Secretary Alejandro Ramos announced the new prices for public transport, also saying, “there will be a new system of allocating resources for public transportation.”

Starting 6th August, those without a SUBE card will have to pay a minimum of $2 for the bus and $1.50 for the train.

SUBE card owners will continue to pay the current rates of $1.10 and $.70, for the bus and train, respectively.

As of this month, there will also be a new limit on subsidies allocated by the government to bus services — $965,225 in Buenos Aires and $397,137 in Argentina’s main cities.

Randazzo says future price adjustments will be left up to the municipality or province.

According to Randazzo, the new bus and train prices were calculated based several factors: number of trips made by SUBE users; fuel; and, the number and costs of personnel.
