Two French Tourists Murdered in Salta

Two French women aged 23 and 20 were found dead by gunshot wounds in San Lorenzó ravine, about 7km from the capital of Salta. Police inform that one of the victims presented with signs of rape, though they have yet to confirm this.

The discovery was made by a couple from Chaco who were passing through the popular tourist spot.

According to initial police information obtained in Salta, the bodies, which were found less than three metres apart, had lacerations, and their clothes were torn.

There are still no clues to the motives or the perpetrators of the murder. The two women had arrived in Salta on 11th July and stayed in a hostel, but their hotels or accommodations for the past several days remain unknown. The last time they were seen in a hostel in Salta was 16th July.

Marcelo Baez, spokesman for the Salta judiciary, said that the murder was “vicious” and suspected that both women may have been kidnapped several days before being killed.

Investigators say the date of death was 48 to 72 hours before the bodies were found this afternoon, but the place of death is unclear. There are no indicators as to where the murders took place.
