Just before 7am today, three lorries crashed in Autopista del Oeste motorway, at ItuzaingĂł junction, affecting traffic in both directions. No injuries or deaths have been reported.
The National Motorway Administration (DNV) has reported that there are tailbacks of up to 5 km long. One of the lorries was a tanker carrying liquid gas and another was carrying cargo.
A spokesman for DNV said: “After the crash, which left no one injured, two lorries were overturned and completely blocked passage in three lanes, two going towards the capital and another that leads to Lujan.”
He also said that the lanes will be blocked off at least until midday today in order to take necessary preventative safety measures regarding the gas lorry.

Hugo Moyano, secretary general of the General Confederation of Work (CGT), has called off the strike which was due to take place on Monday. He announced the decision in a press conference to an audience of 140.
A national strike had been organised and union secretary Omar Viviani had confirmed that it would take place from 6am-8pm on Monday 21st March. It would have affected the distribution of money, food and fuel across the country as well as rubbish collection. There also could have been an impact on long-distance travel and other areas. The proposed strike was to be accompanied by a demonstration in Plaza de Mayo beginning at 10am, which had full support of the CGT board.
The strike has been called off in the wake of many accusations levelled at Moyano including involvement in money laundering, fraud and drugs. In his speech he described being “tired of so many lies and so much persecution.” He accused the press of having acted in an unfair way and made union leaders out to be “serial killers.”
